Subwoofer cable connection

Morning folks,

I am in the process of getting my basement finished and plan on having my TV (family) room downstairs. I had enough forethought to have some 16 gauge speaker wires run to towards the back of the room for my surround speakers.

I had also found a good location for the subwoofer and when the electrician asked me if I wanted a speaker connection there, I said Yes without thinking about the question. I later (after the dry-wall & plaster was in place) realized that I didn't want the same 16 gauge speaker wire run to the subwoofer, but rather subwoofer cable.

Of course, now it's too late to remove the existing wiring, is there ANY chance for me to use the existing wire or will I have to run the subwoofer cable on the floor??

Regards

Yes, but it depends on the type of connections on your sub. You will be able to use the existing speaker wire if there are speaker connections on the sub (not all subs have them). If you want to use rg-59 (or rg-6), you will obviously have to run new cabling. Cheers.

Not sure those speaker wires will work as interconnects, unless they are twisted perhaps.
Or, you can move the sub am by the receiver, then use the speaker wires.:D

I talked to the electrician about the snafu and he was kind enough to offer to run the coax cable for the subwoofer. So, problem solved. :)
