Is there any possible way to power a non amplified subwoofer for a reasonable price. What I mean to say is,..is there a sub amp that can hook to your house wiring?

plate amp

I have the 500w version from www.partsexpress.com powering a 12" Stryke Audio AV12 in a 1 ft^3 box (sealed). It seems to be a decent amp, but I will reserve final judgement until I can get it set up on my home system (right now I have it hooked up to a cruddy $70 Wal Mart special system via a line level converter :( )

The amp also has a parametric eq which can be very useful.

That Outlaw looks good. That is to say Cabinet freindly. I dont want anything looking ghettorigged. Thats why I avoided buying a power inverter to power a car amp.

???
Can you use a regular amplifier like a 2-channel to power a sub. Like the name brand ones out there.???

plate amps don't looked ghetto rigged.....they fit flushly anywhere on the box.

yes, provided you have the proper amp (ohm load, power rating, etc...) you can use anything from audiophile amps, to pro dj amps. I have a mackie 2600 putting out 1400w @ 8ohm and 2000w rms @ 4ohm to run my home sub which is a 6ohm load :). Buying dj amps means lots o power, cheap (mackie's also have a built in crossover - if needed)

Nod, Crown makes good stuff, the Behringer Euroseries amps are an awesome deal...

If it was me I'd just use a Behringer Europower amp. Those things make some juice for the money!
