Subwoofer Acting Odd. Help!

Hey, all! I recently exchanged my sound bar through Amazon because the speakers developed a slight crackle. I'm not an extreme audiphile, but it was really annoying. Amazon sent me a new one very quickly and it's very crisp and clear; however, my subwoofer is not performing nearly as well as it used to. I've got a Polk PSW10 wired directly to the sound bar via the sub out. With the first sound bar I had the sub volume set to about 15% because it was overwhelming for my bedroom. Even at this volume it had a great presence and excellent response. That doesn't seem to be the case anymore, though. With a new, properly functioning replacement sound bar I have to turn the sub volume to 30% or higher and it still doesn't have the presence it used to. Does anybody know what could be wrong? With this set up I have the music playing from my smart blu-ray player. The player is hooked up to my tv via HDMI and the sound bar is connected to the television via optical cable. Thanks for any advice!
