Subway Foot-Longs Coming Up Short

You know what really grinds my gears about Subway, the damn move to meat on top of fixin's. I grew up eating the meat on bottom, with all veggies, condiments etc on top of meat. Some jackass, in need of something new to do in his cubicle decided that the sandwich would look much better with the meat on top. Now most would say I am an idiot and that does not matter, but how many of us at home make a burger and put everything below the meat? Yada Yada Yada B.S, I always ask for meat on bottom (not in reference to Adam comments I have read on here) now and they look at me funny, but it is a fun game to me i guess.

Simple solution .... grab sandwich as you'd normally would to eat it and rotate 180 degrees ... all fixed, meat on the bottom. :)

I just hate how little meat you get on the sandwiches at subway. It's all bread. I like quizno's more but they're pretty rare around here. Tons of subways though. Twelve within a 5 mile radius of my house -_-

Subway cut the meat back something like 25%. With raw material prices up, they had to do something to keep the cost down. But less meat just sucks. That is like the most important part of the sandwich.

I haven't had the problem with the meat on the top. I prefer it on the bottom, just like all toilet paper rolls should have the end rolling over the top toward you. I'm just anal that way...:D

I had one subway count out the number of black olives on my sandwich. He put 3 on a 6" sub. I asked for more and he added 2. He said he was only authorized to put 5 black olives on my sandwich. That was a giant WTF moment. It also generated a complaint where the regional manager actually admitted they had that as a guideline. Yikes!

Sounds like that guy was more of an 'Assistant to the Regional Manager'
An official Regional Manager is authorized to place up to 8 black olives on a 6" sub.
Well...that how the Regional Manager rolls at Dunder Mifflin anyway.

Damnit Steve, it's the principle...:)
I know, just foolin ....
Up here I've never seen them put the meat on top, sounds alot like a marketing persons decision so it *appears* there is more meat. Same kind of "marketing logic" that uses a chip bag 4x bigger than it needs to be. :)

To me the biggest problem with subway is that it's...subway. Nothing there ever tastes quite right to me. The vegetables leave me with an odd aftertaste and the meat always seems kinda waxy. Add to that the terrible employees ("do you want that toasted?" "no, thank you" *puts sandwich in toaster*) and you get a place that I avoid at all costs.

It's not like they are the first ones to lie about somethings length, now are they?

Seriously, I've always preferred Blimpies over Subway but they are getting harder and harder to find. They are franchises but have more local control over their raw materials and quantities and tend to make a better product, IMNSHO.

You mean Guy Fiere hasn't been down there? You can get a decent sandwich at the Carnegie Deli. Here's the one named after Camelot Anthony.

Complaining about Subway subs is like griping that a $5 frozen pizza doesn't hit the spot. Well, Duh! :p

Say no to Subway, support your local deli ;).

My favorite place is Katz in manhattan. You pay (I think the sandwich pic I posted is around $22) but the meat is more than plentiful and it doesn't suck. That could easily feed four people.

In my home town there was a Katz that advertised they never closed, but sadly they did close one day for good.

I don't eat much Subway any more but I am still disappointed they did away with the "trough" or "gouge" cut of the bread. Also, I hate that they try to make you add veggies before condiments. Putting mayo onto veggies is total mess.
