I am a newb and only want to buy a great sub once. I started a $500 now I am looking at a $1600 SVS. This will be used for 99% HT. I live in a townhouse for now so I will have some pissed neighbors sometimes but oh well. The room is 13X41X8 = 4,264 cu ft. I came across the SubMersive while reading forums. What is this sub? Is it something I should consider? My hope is to spend the $$ upfront and be happy with it for years to come. I have to admit the finish of the SVS is a factor.

The Submersive seems to be a custom build kind of thing.
People who have it seem to be very happy.

Custom built as in Mark Seaton builds everyone of them himself, as I understand it. I know Art over at AVS has four of them in his theater for the better part of a year and hasn't upgraded yet.....and that's saying something as he has own some of the best subs available.

There is about a $400 price difference as the Submersive is $2000 plus shipping. I actually would have went with it but it was just too much even after I extended my budget to get the Conquest.

Don't know anything about the SubMersive, but the Ultra is definitely one of the best quality/price subs out there. The nice finishes on the Ultra are a nice bonus as well. I say save the $400 and get that. No one who owns one is dissapointed...

I did the same thing btw, started off with a small budget and now I'm looking at about 5k for my setup. A modest amount still, but when I started a few months ago I was shopping HTB's around $1000....

I just received my SVS PB13-Ultra about a week ago, and I am very, very happy with it. My room is roughly equal to about (20 x 25 x 8) 4,000 cubic ft, and the sub literally shakes the house. I have the gain set just under half way, I can't imagine upgrading from here......Also, shipping was free when I bought the sub from SVS.

My senior citizen dad bought an Ultra13 for himself as a 2008 Christmas gift. All I have to say after my annual x-mas visit to my parents house.......................... it's sick.

very sick.........

There are many options for the money, but for the money........you cant go wrong with the SVS ultra13. It's nasty....
