Sub-Woofer/Amp Problem

Hey all,

I've just recently moved back to the United States after five years overseas and I'm hooking up my stereo JVC receiver for the first time in a long time. All is going well, except that my RX-6040 isn't recognizing my sub-woofer. I've tried the sub-woofer on/off button, I've tried going into speaker settings (and yes, I've plugged it in and turned it on... thanks so very much JVC Trouble-shooting guide!). When I touch the receiver out end of the cable to the nodes on the back of the receiver, it makes the sub-woofer hum, so I know that it is working. Any suggestions would be GREATLY appreciated!

so your speakers are set to small?

Hi bandphan,

Yes, I've set them to small (which is what I have). I have the right, left, and center hooked up. It's registering the center, so I'm figuring that not having the rear speakers set up isn't the problem... hrmmmm
