sub or bass shaker

hey guys appreciate all the help i have received in the past it has been most helpful.. i use to have my two velodyne ch12 behind the couch and ran the left and right channels to them then back to the front and i sounded pretty good i loved the feel of the bass right behind the couch.. but in this configuration with the new blu ray and true hd and dts the volume level i wanted would overload the receiver so i went with lfe and a y cable but you could really tell where the subs where and i did not like it so much so i put the subs on either side of the room mid way down the wall and the integration and sound with the mains is phenonminal . what are your opinions on daisy chaining a klipsch 12" 650 watt sub and sticking it behind the couch or a buttkicker???? any help would be appreciated

What are the other pieces of your setup, speakers, receiver, etc.? Also, how big is your room? Have you calibrated the setup after placing the speakers in a manner that room effects are minimized?

The two subs should be more than sufficient for even a modes sized room. That said, the Buttkicker seems to have a positive effect on the tactile feel part of the low frequencies.

Basically it is a tactile transducer and you attach or put your seating on, not sure how exactly, but instead of being a speaker to hit the low notes in your audio, it physically vibrates you and your seating to get the same effect as a subwoofer hitting really low notes.

All that being said, I've never used one and have no idea how they perform. Could it possible make my couch double as a massage chair if I just play bass sweeps?

I like my butt shaken not stirred by the LFE .

Like all other speakers, they need to be set up for best performance. If it plays too high into the FR or is too powerful, it is said to detract from the experience.

As for using it as a massage chair... i can think of a better one .

the room is approx 12.5 wide and 14.5 long ft. tv is an old panosonic 53 inch projection hd tv recessed into the wall to resemble a flat screen sort of receiver is pioneer vsx1018ah. mains are polk monitor 70's center is polk with polk pws 350 for sub for center. left and rear surrond polk rt151 rear surrond polk ts1 100 two subs velodyne cht -12 placed midway down the walls i think i have the calibration pretty close as it sounds nice and it does shake the room just miss the felling i got when the velodynes where in back of the couch both the sub i am looking at and the buttkicker about the same in price just wondering which might be better i prefer to move air but if the buttkicker might shake a little more while being a little more transparent than a sub that might be the way to go or i could turn the sub crossover down and volume up? thanks for you input

I have another idea about placement for the buttkicker, however it is on the opposite side of the body.

I've had one in the past and I found it OK, but for most instances, I find a good sub-woofer to be more than enough.
