I already pulled the trigger and got a VTF-15H.
I don't have any "close" neighbors.

I bet that VTF-15H will be awesome. Tell us what you think when you have it set up and dialed in to your liking.

I will report back, and will probably need some help to get it "dialed in"!...I have an Onkyo with Audyssey..
My question was, is any of the pads necessary, like the Auralex stuff? Will it make a huge difference?

In your case, I don't believe the pads will be necessary. All they do is limit the vibration being transferred to the floor from the subwoofer enclosure. With no downstairs neighbors and concrete underneath, you're good to go without.
