Studio Monitors 4Ohm Load Question

Hi there,

last week I had the chance to hear the Behringer Studio Monitors (ref. B2031P), which is a 2-way 8" woofer passive speaker with a 4Ohm load though.

In short, the sound was amazing to my ears and I can get 3 of them - NIB - at a very affordable price, for my front array (LCR), so my question is:

both L/R will be powered by the Samson outboard amp. and the CC only will be powered by the 3806 internal amp. I'm quite sure I won't have any problems by the fact that I'll have 01 4Ohm speaker being fed by the Denon.

The Denon also feeds 4 surrounds though ( JBL E-30's ).

Is my assumption correct or do you guys think I may have some issue, if I decide to go this way without adding another power amp. just for the CC?

I did a little looking and it appears that the 3806 is rated to 6 ohms. I suspect you won't have trouble as Denon builds quality equipment. Also on the plus side for you is the fact that you won't putting big demads on the recievers power supply as you'll only be driving the surrounds with the other channel. I would however make sure that you allow room for proper ventalation...

IF if it make you nervous - you could also add an external amp for the center channel.....

yeah, that's what I thought. Considering that I'll have only 1 speaker demanding a 4Ohm load + four 8Ohm surrounds, the Denon should run pretty well. There are plenty ventilation thorughout the AVR/AMP., even at considerably high volumes.
