I only used my 5007 for a few days till it broke down and I have been with out a receiver for 2 months (long story about repair)

I am now being shipped a new 5007 and should be here in a few days.

Today I was lurking the net and say the Yamaha RX-Z11 for the same price I got the 5007 for. I was wondering what are your thoughts on these two receivers compared to each other.

I know one is 9.2 and the other is 11.2. what I am really curious about is the audyssey vs. YPAO. Also just looking for over all opinions on just these two units.

The general consensus is Audyssey is the best room correction software available at the moment. That may change if Sherwood gets their act together with their new AVR with Trinov correction software. The jury is still out on that - they have other problems.

And whats the chances of getting two lemons in a row? The NR5007 seems to be a very good AVR.

The YAPO, MCACC, and Audyssey all have the their strengths. You room will dictate the adjustments and dealing with the room issues first, ie treatments, then eqing is the way to go. EQ of the lower frequencies seems to be more important to most and there plenty of outboard products that do this well.
