stuck fan and dusts in Optoma HD143X

Hello there,
I have an Optoma HD143X that reported fan problem and showed dusts on the screen. The dusts got in when I tried to vacuum it to fix the stuck fan. (I know it was a mistake)

Contacted Optoma and they will do an assessment for $150 before even letting me know the repair cost. This may cost a few hundred dollars, eventually.

Is it worth sending it in for cleaning up and fixing the stuck fan? Can this be done by myself? How?

Thanks

I would more likely try to repair it yourself. The dust is a tougher thing to get to, but if you are kind of handy, you can carefully take things apart, replace the fan, and clean the DLP chi[p itself. It is some work, but can be done if you take your time and are careful.

Review some of the videos at www.youtube.com/fixitfrank for some idea of what you need to do and what you are dealing with.
