Thanks for the willingness to go through all those steps with the PS3. He will still lose the ability to use Dolby TrueHD, and DTS-HD if he goes this route...correct?

I am going to get a dedicated BD player for HD audio in my room and run my PS3 to a couple of rooms and add an AppleTV with that Monoprice converter, so I'm pretty much running the full setup across the board of what you are thinking of. It will be a few weeks before I know what all works and how well.

I may give it all a try too. Worst case, I end up with some new toys but if it works, I will give it to my BIL.
