Streaming from Tablet

So since I rebuilt my CPU and have temporarily lost my ability to stream my music, from my computer to my main system, I have stumbled upon something I like better.

I am plugging my Tablet, which is a Galaxy Note Pro, directly to my AVR and enjoying the variety of SiriusXM and Rhapsody and the likes. Sure it is compressed music but just hearing all the different types of artist is fun again.

My question is: What's the best way to do this? As of right now, I have just plugged the Tablet into the front analog connection on the AVR via the mini headphone jack.

The issue is I have to turn up the volume about twice as high as normal on the AVR. The volume on the Tab is all the way up.

The Note Pro doesn't seem to have any type of mini-HDMI so what are some best options for this?

The only thing I can think of is an external DAC like the HRT.

My mobile devices play music via the network. Do you have a network receiver?

Well I guess I do since I normally play my music library from my CPU. Walk me through it.

My phone and receiver are connected to the same WLAN router and I control my system with my phone.

Hook up a Roku to the AVR. Then stream wirelessly from your Tablet to the Roku/AVR.

I've streamed wirelessly from my iPad to both the Roku and Apple TV. Sounds like CD.

The files I use are ALAC, so it's lossless.

Let see: The HRT will take the digital music streaming to the tablet and convert it to analog, to connect to your receiver. Aren't you getting the same thing for free from the tablet’s headphone jack?

If your tablet was loaded with WAV or FLAC files then I’d say sure, get a high-quality DAC converter. But for compressed, high-loss streaming music? Nah.

A network receiver would preclude the need for outboard devices like your CPU, tablet or phone, so I’m guessing you don’t have one.

No network AVR? What the heck is the Ethernet wire plugged in for? Anything with a computer confuses me.

So Roku connected to the AVR and then I can stream all the music wirelessly from SiriusXM and Rhapsody?

Yes, with an Ethernet cable plugged in I’d say that’s a network receiver (someone correct me if I’m wrong) and as such you should be able to play streaming music from it. However, it’s possibly limited to specific providers like Pandora or Sirius, so the Roku may be a better option.

Which receiver do you have?
Denon 3808. I get internet radio and it has an IP address so it is a network AVR. I have always streamed my music from my CPU to the Denon, I am just not sure how I can do it with my Tab.

Try Yatse Pro or another dlna/upnp streamer like airwire or upandplay

The Denon 3808 should be similar to my Denon 3312. I stream ALAC music files from my iPad to the Denon all the time (either with Roku or Apple TV).

That sounds like you are playing music that you have stored on your Ipad. I can already play anything I have stored as files on my computer, I am just wanted to stream from SiriusXM and Rhapsody.

Can't seem to make that work either. It finds my Denon but I can on play from "my files" and not from a 3rd party like SiriusXM and Rhapsody.

I take it that you never got Rhapsody to work well on the 3808 itself?

You mean other than the fact that I firgot I could play it directly from my AVR...HESUS EFFIN' CRIPS...I guess I could try hitting the Rhapsody button on my Phone that controls my system. I do remember having a drop out issue when I tried using this several years ago. I also like the interface of the Tab but let me go check to see if it works now.

Ok, I found Rhapsody on my AVR but it has an old username and password so I will have to figure out how to set it up again. I am going to have to wait until my wife wakes up as I tend to make a lot of noise.

After I go back and look at all my notes on the issues I had trying to use Rhapsody on my AVR, I think I will skip it.

I ended up going with a Roku Stick. It does what I need it to do as far as streaming Pandora to the main room.

I haven't played with it much but it looks like at least Netflix and Vudo is just in stereo vs SS and since my AVR won't do HDMI to 2nd and 3rd zones, I still have to use the analog set up for the bedroom and pool.

I think for a $49 solution, it is just fine.
