Strange sounds from Audioengine A-5 sepaker

I'm thinking it might be time to warranty my audioengine A-5 speakers but I thought I'd ask here first to see if someone can help me identify the problem. I recently set up the A-5s in the master bedroom and they worked fine until they didn't,. I'm getting some hissing and crackling off the passive speaker (the one without the amp). I checked the connections and they're fine. Any suggestions other than exercising the warranty?

I vote warranty. There's really not much you can do to check 'em out.

Well it looks like the problem was a bad power strip. I replaced the old one with a high quality monster power strip, :D (OK it's probably not that high quality but it works and I had it lying around), and the problem has disappeared. Beats exercising the warranty.

I'm glad it's fixed.

I never would have guessed it from the symptoms you described but I'm glad it's working now. But, just in case, keep your receipt and packaging for the speakers. ...you never know.
