Still Amp Hunting

Well my amp arrived today. No time to set it up and try it out yet, that will be tomorrow. I have to say it is in truly mint condition. Not a single scratch or mark on it. I would believe this amp is almost brand new just by looking at it. Hopefully that means the inside is in as good of shape and will have many year of pumping out some tunes.

I believe I remember somebody mentioning that old component video cables will work well for running to my amp from my receiver. I have a high quality set that I am not using since everything is HDMI. Anybody see any issues with that?

Nope. They should be 75 ohm cables, which is what you need. I'm using 2 component video cables to connect my SACD player to my receiver and I don't have any issues.

Well - I just pulled the trigger on an older Adcom GFA-555. Looking forward to trying out my speakers for the first time with some substainial power going to them.

I stumbled across this power strip in my searches. Anybody use these.

I use one of those for a few various not very high load pieces of equipment in my system, It works great...

It switches on my Behringer DCX 2496 and a set of background lights, as well as some venting fans. I plus my plasma TV into the Main outlet and when that turns on - all the rest of the stuff turns on as well with a short delay.

Works perfectly and its relatively inexpensive.

Not sure I would use it for an amp, though I'm sure it would work just fine if it didn't have a trigger.

Nope. They should be 75 ohm cables, which is what you need. I'm using 2 component video cables to connect my SACD player to my receiver and I don't have any issues.

I am not sure that I have any 75 ohm cables. Any suggestions on getting some inexpensive 75 ohm cables? I assume Monoprice would have some good deals.

Will my Component cables work to get me through the weekend until I can get some 75 ohm cables? All I have at home right now is some old red and white RCA cable and the a couple of component cables. .

Component cables are normally 75ohms. I have all my amps hooked up with comp. cables as they usually have better shielding then audio cables.

I use the "high end" MonoPrice comp cables and just pull them apart so I end up with 5 cables for each one I buy. I think I pay about 8 bucks for 5 cables by doing this.

Cool - I will give mine a try. I have an older set of Monster Cable component cables (before I discovered BJC and Monoprice) they are very heavy duty and of course cost a small fortune. Hopefully they wil do the job.
