The RX-1052 is a great piece of gear for the money, but it does retail at $800. It's also a unique stereo receiver, in that it can address and output to three other zones by adding amps.
The Outlaw has its own unique advantage of having a dedicated subwoofer output with bass management, which is unheard of for a stereo receiver.
The Absolute Sound published a good article comparing these very two receivers side by side if you care to read. Go to AV Guide's website and search for "RX-1052". I can't post direct links yet, because this is my first post.
