Staying within the budget through DIY - Need a Subwoofer Recommendation

I'm looking at buying a DIY sub to improve my current setup without breaking the bank. It'll be 70% music, 30 movies, and will need to fill a medium-large room, maybe 20x20x8 or a few feet larger. My current sub is a Polk505.

If I could build it for $300, I'd be psyched. I've got a solid wood shop and plenty of experience. I've got room for something big, if necessary. When I was originally buying my sub, it was $500 or bust... I want to lower that amount (and still get the same quality subwoofer) by applying some elbow grease.

Any recommendations?

For $379 id look into the CSS Trio12 w/APR15 & BASH500 amp!!

This kit even comes with cabinet spikes & all the panel cutout templates so all you have to do is follow the directions step by step & whalla!! This thing puts out some serious bass. Just look at the output chart on their site.

The 12" Trio12 driver is downfiring & the 15" passive radiator is front firing. Place this thing in a corner & you'll be loving life!! The trio12 has an XBR>2 motor too! (thats a good thing).
Plus from your seat it looks like your running a 15" sub!!! Haha nice!!

My buddy is going to be getting this kit soon after quite a bit of research. He has a $400 budget & this seems by far the best option. So id throw on the extra $80 or so to your budget if you can. This would give you a great performing sub even in that large room of yours!!

Infinity Reference 1260W for $55 from Amazon (free shipping if you have Prime). BASH 300 Watt plate amp from Parts Express for $114.

$30 in MDF. Whatever else in Glue and Clamps plus finish materials.

Here is a link to a thread on that sub.

Take a look at the included PDF.
