$11k for 700Wpc/4ohm Amp ? How's this amp radically improved over D class pro amps like Crown XLS drive?

Actually its quite an incredible improvement. I have a top Class D amp I directly compared it too and there was no comparison. The Pass Labs amp had a much cleaner top end, and more authoritative bass response. The Pass Labs sounded live while the Class D sounded more electronic. This amp has made me a believer!

Looks like Audioholics is getting the respect that it deserves. Even high-end speakers pay homage to Gene. :D

I'll admit that the design isn't really my taste, but the fit and finish (at least from those photos) look stunning!

Beryllium :D :D - gotta love it. Is it just me or they only have three 10" drivers? I thought they had six...

That's the pass X350.5? Not sure which amp you're refering to as top class D but according to this guy, the Pass XA200 (?) was outperformed by the Hypex NC1200. Maybe you can get a pair for a review:

Hypex makes great Class D amps from what I hear. I know the designer, he is very talented.

The Class D I have is the Axiom A1400 which is discontinued due to reliability issues. I still use it b/c it's a powerhouse but it is more sensitive to loudspeaker load impedance than conventional amps.

The Pass Labs amp is just a different animal, the kind you like but you're also a little terrified of :)

Here are some pictures with RBH Chief Engineer Shane Rich and myself after a full day of working on installing the new Status 8T towers and 8C center in my theater room. These were taken at 2am so we were pretty beat as you can see in our faces...

We managed to integrate my 2 Velodyne DD-15+ subs as LFE channels with the Titus 8T's running fullrange on the main channels.

These measurements are at the seated position (front row purple, back row blue). No global EQ was used at ALL. Just careful placement and good room integration of high quality gear.

The Front Row:
Ignoring the tangential room mode at 80Hz, the bass response was +- 5dB from 12Hz to 80Hz

The Back Row:
+-6dB from 12Hz to 100Hz

I am sure I can further tune this, but it's sounding so darn good right now, I'm not too inclined to break out my measurement gear again for at least a week or two.

The Velo subs aren't even needed as the Titus bass drivers really fill my room with incredible tactile and linear bass. However, I use them for the LFE channel for multi channel music and movies. I've never had a pair of speakers in my 6,000ft^3 theater room capable of delivering reference level bass response at all seats without the need of powered subs to help them along.

No the room is quite big, over 6,000 ft^3. It's 27' x 26' but L shaped and it has a small 4'x10' office where I do all my testing from.

I thought there were a lot of complaints about that Axiom (built by Outlaw?) to not consider it a top shelf component.

What has the Pass made you a believer of? I would like to A/B a Crown MacroTech series (if 220V is available) since we are talk clean and damping factor/feedback design.

Will this combo be at the GTG?
