Spotify Connect vs direct connection to a USB DAC

I currently listen to Spotify from my computer using the Spotify Connect feature to my stereo system that has Spotify Connect capability that is in the same room. Would the be any sound quality difference if I connected the computer to my stereo via an external USB DAC, running the signal to the DAC then to the stereo?

Good question I have a Yamaha 3080 and you can connect via Aiplay from your phone, the receiver has Spotify on it. The Tv has Spotify. Bluetooth sounds best but it may just be settings.

Doubtful, there's likely nothing wrong with the dac in your stereo system (or Brettc's avr) so why complicate things? Bluetooth has improved for audio over the years, but it isn't quite up to wifi (and It doesn't need to be in the same room fwiw, it's wifi). You could direct the stream with your mobile device as easily, too....
