So I have been to 3 Rat Shacks in my area to pick up a SPL meter. All 3 show that they have them in stock but no one can find them (What is this? What do you use it for? Really...that's cool). Geeezzz, I was hoping that Best Buy and CC were the only companies that hired employees that didnt have a clue about electronics

yep, same experience with their staff at my neighborhood store! I just looked for it myself and found it hanging there with no help from them!

I looked too but couldnt find one. They said maybe they had them in the back but couldnt find them. They wont let me go back there.

Check the SVS site (or call them), they were offering them as well. They have the Avia + SPL bundle, but don't know if they have the meter by itself, or if they will sell it without selling you some speakers...

You can get one on Radioshack.com and usually for a on line sale price.

A picture is worth a thousand words. Print off the image from the Radioshack website and take it with you, assuming you try a store again.

I picked one up in Lilburn GA no problem...asked for a meter, they said we dont have analog anymore will digital do, and I said yes. Maybe I should buy up the stock and become a re-seller.

Every Radio Shack around here has the digital meter in stock. If you're looking for the analog meter, that can be a lot harder to find.

How did you ask for this, as an spl meter or as a sound pressure level meter? Maybe that is what got them stuck in stupid. I asked my local store and had them; not sure how I asked though.

When i went in and got my analog SPL meter a few months ago i asked if they had SPL meters after looking around the store. The guys working there were completely oblivious as to what it even was.

I had brought along the catalog number and sure enough they had some in the back.

No offense to people who work at Ratshack, Ive been to a couple where the people were really helpfull and knew exactly what i wanted and where to find it. However most times I dont ask for help because if the person knew anything about electronics they wouldnt be working there in the first place.

Hey...the comment on SVS was a joke...get it...hehhehheh.

I took a picture of the RS SPL meter and the item number; they cant seem to find them. I will just order one from SVS.

I got mine from RS no problem, just told them what I was looking for, I may have even had the part # from the website... they eventually found it in the back. For some reason they don't seem to keep them out on the shelves.

I was just at wallmart & i saw that they cary digital spl meters in their car audio section.
