SPL meters and one other quick question

Seriously, I have no life.
I have both the digital and analog meters, and I greatly prefer the digital one due to ease of reading.
Yes, whole numbers are easy to read. :D
But, if you want accurate level matching, got to put up with the analog

If you don't go blind first trying to concentrate on a tiny little mark on the dial while the needle flickers back and forth. ;)

A digital rounds up or down, so you have no idea if that 75dB is 74.5 or 75.4.
I don't have an RS SPL meter anymore (had the digital model), but IIRC, the resolution was 0.1 dB, not 1.0 dB.

Also, I don't mean to direct people away from this forum, but the Home Theater Shack will have calibration values for both digital and analog RS SPL meters as well as the Galaxy.

Hope that helps.

The digital Radio Shack spl meter
mod 33-2055

has whole number only. Hence, it has to round up or down at some point. So, you can be off almost 1dB spl.

How so?
?
Check that face again. While the written numbers are in 2, 4, 6 to the right and to 10 left of 0, check the smaller tick marks and the space between the marks and lines. You should be able to interpolate the reading to at least 1/4dB and get it to the same spot on each channel, if you can finely adjust the volume. Some external amps can be so adjusted. If you can only change 1 whole dB, I guess this is moot.
