SPL meter in Toronto Canada

hey there canadians!

I can't find a reasonably priced SPL meter here where I am. (222cad$ here in manila)

So where in Oakville Ontario is the closest/easiest way to get an SPL meter? would it be easier if I just had them ship it to my relatives instead of giving my relatives a crash course in audio and send then sending them off to find the meter in the stores? (if so, know of online retailers that are in canada - so shipping would be cheaper)

You could ask your relatives if they are willing to check where the closest Radio Shack is to them and if reasonable, they would be willing to call and see if they have what you want, then pick it up if they do. Then give them the part number and they can pick it up. Shipping to you would be less expensive as well. They can open the package and it is a used gift
You can always mail order after this exercise.

I don't know if The Source (which is owned by Circuit City) has them or not, but Radio Shack is coming back to Canada. I dunno when, but it's been confirmed that RS will be back soon. Just wanted to let you know.

are there radio shacks in canada?

"The Source", (which is owned by Circuit City), still carries some Radio Shack stuff I think -- but not much. And I don't think the meter is among it.

home of multiple speaker manufacturers. hmmm.

I can understand the shortage where I am (although there's one I saw that was 220USD +-) there are no speaker manufacturers here [or a big enough audio enthusiast market]

The problem is that few test equipment makers are willing to modify their products for the Canadian "eh-weighting" scale.
