I just bought a Yamaha RX-V1500 receiver for $525. I am looking for a good set of speakers. Could anyone help me find a good subwoofer, center, left, right and surround speakers? The 5 speakers should cost in the range of about $500 to $700 :)

I've owned a Def Tec Pro-monitor 80 system that I thought was quite good for the money, and I think the Pro Monitor 60 w/sub is in your price range. Also, although I've never heard them, the Athena Tech Micra 6 is well thought of enough to make the Audioholics recommended $1k home theater system, and IIRC, it's about $500.

Bryan...just don't buy Bose... :D

Def Tech 60's

I'll second the Def Tech 60's. I've been looking for a small speaker setup for my In-Laws and these are my favorite. The Athena's are a close second. The 60's have an amazingly big sound for such small speakers. My in-laws will probably ceiling mount them and they are available in black or white. IMO, way better than anything Bose cube speakers have to offer and a lot less money.

Kiran,

Audition Yamaha's NS-555 for fronts along with NS-C333 for centers and NS-333 for surrounds and the Yamaha YST-SW315 for sub. Should suit your budget.

Paradigm's Cinema Series 110's can be had for about $800.00 canuck bucks and has a 100 watt sub. The Cinema series 90's are a step below. The Energy Act 6 speaker package is also around $700-800.00 and sounds quite good for the size of the speakers.

I'm looking at the Energy Take 5.2 system to go with the RX-V1500.

http://www.energy-speakers.com/take5-2/take51_system.html

This setup is for a friend who has a relatively small room (12 x 15). The dimensions and acoustics of your room will affect the sound quality almost as much as your speaker selection.

This system can be had for just under $600 with an 8" Sub.

Good Luck!
