This should be posted in the speaker section.I am very interested on this svs speakers. Are they much better than a polk, jbl or klipsch?
Unfortunately I think latter model JBL's and especially those on the lower end of the price range lack the superior quality that exists in your set. I worked with the JBL Professional line for quite some time, and I left thinking nothing could beat a JBL - that is until I heard the entry level consumer line. Apparently the superiority doesn't trickle down that far. Just my opinion of course - there are others who will argue that they sound terrific - as someone above mentioned, it's subjective either way. I'm thinking, based on his suggestions and what is listed in his signature his price range fits him right around the JBL Venue series, Polk Monitor series, Klipsch Synergy series - for ID brands, SVS or AV123; either of which would outperform the former. JMHO.I've certainly never heard every speaker brand that exist. But of the ones I have auditioned, no matter how good I thought they were, at first, after awhile I usually find, in some way, they're lacking, compared to the JBLs I've owned for over 30 years. I'm not talking low end JBLs either.
My current HT system, JBL Performance Series, one would have to spend many $k more(imho) to get better. Even my 30 year old L212s, that have upgraded XOs, are superior to many of today's current speakers.
Of the speakers I've heard over the last 6~8 years, that weren't JBLs, the only ones I had serious thoughts of buying were James Loudspeakers.
I've read many posts, on various forums, where people had bought one brand of speaker or another, and thought they were great, until they heard quality JBLs, and then traded up.
That's what I always tell people.Always let your ears be the best judge though, and go for what sounds best to you.![]()
