For $4K, I would go full active DIY and blow away anything comercially available, ID or not, at 2x the price. If you are not real handy though, it is probably not a good option.

I would check out B&W as well as some of the other brands on your list. Atlantic Technology makes some real nice speakers as well.

If you're looking at paradigm you need to step up to the Studio line, they have the same tweeter as the old Signature line, they're anything but bright. If you have a dealer close go demo them! I like the dynaudio focus line, but they may be a tad out of your price range. The last poster mentioned Atlantic, which is another good choice. I almost bought a set for my secondary theater room. If you go with the Def Techs you may find you don't need a powered sub, and hench you can spend a bit more on your mains and maybe add a sub down the road if needed.

A month and a half is not that long of a wait.
LOL! Heck, a few days for shipping feels like eternity! I could die before they get here. :p

I would love to go DIY. Unfortunatley, I am not to proficient with tools in my hand. Heck, I just recently tried installing a new door on one of the rooms in my house and it almost defeated me...

I was just getting ready to post a thread about sub options. Can Def Techs really give that chest thumping feel in a room that is 5060 cubic feet? I know that isn't a huge room...but it is still pretty decent sized.

You'd have to ask AcuDefTech that one. I'm a Paradigm owner, I've heard the 7000s with and without sub, they sounded good in both configurations. They actually sound better in a larger room.

Just my BP7000s without the external sub can rattle the walls @ 90dB in my room of about 3,500 c.f.

However, I don't know about 5,060 c.f.

Thanks AcuDefTechGuy. I'm still leaning toward the rockets...but I am very wish-washy right now.

AV123 Risk Free

FYI,
AV123 is now risk free on all their speakers: Floorstanders, center, surrounds, bookshelf speakers, etc.

My question is, is the Shipping also free Both ways or do you have to pay for your own shipping if you decide to return them? And will they charge your credit card first and then refund later or do you have 30 days before they even charge your credit card?

You pay for the speakers, plus shipping. You audition the speakers in your house. If you don't like them. You contact AV123, and they will reimburse you the total price of the speakers plus the shipping charges.

This really is a "No Brainer" for someone considering purchasing from AV123.

So they will also pay for the return shipping?

For example, will they send you a pre-paid UPS/FedEx postage for shipping the speakers back to them, etc.?

I auditioned an Outlaw Audio Pre-pro once. They sent me a pre-paid UPS postage for the return, but CHARGED me for it.

No AV123 will pay for shipping back to them. Then they will sell the speakers as B-Stock.

Well, right now there is no shipping charge as it gets waived. At this point this being a "no brainer" for somebody like me is dead on. I have to do it now or I will always wonder...but of course, nothing will get here until Aug. Which means I will have to fight the urge to continue to find the bigger better deal.

IMO a deal is not money. No matter what you purchase, you can always find something for less money.

If your looking to spend less money I can recommend speakers that cost a whole hell of a lot less then the Rockets. The question is will you be happy with the sound quality.

If your into purchasing ID speakers you should read as many review, and thoughts, and opinions from people who have, or have heard the speakers. (professional, and amateur) Then knowing your own personal preference toward what sounds good to you. (You should know this) Then, and only then can you make an educated decision on purchasing.

Your right. A deal is not money, and that isn't what I intended it to sound like. I just know I will continue to read reviews and look at speacials and generally check everything out. I guess I didn't mean "deal". Looking for the "bigger, better deal" is just a term my wife uses to describe my behavior. For instance, I am very happy with my new projector I have bought...but yet I still look around at others and read reviews almost as much as I did when I was shopping. I have convinced myself I won't even consider upgrading for a couple of years...but I can't fight the urge to just "look" and see what things are costing and what improvements are coming out.
