Hey all I need some help with speakers. I am getting a new setup and don't know which ones to get so I am looking for opinions. I going to be running one of the following sets.

Set 1: Vienna Acoustics

Front: Schonbergs
Center: Trio
Rear: Webern

Or

Set 2: Definitive Technology

Front: Mythos one
Center: Mythos three
Rear: Mythos one or three

both setups will be running the Supercube I.

Any advice and/or opinions would be greatly appreciated.

Thanks

I haven't heard these specific models of Def Techs and Viennas, BUT I have heard, side by side, both of their upscale monitors and floorstanders. To my ears it was like comparing a Hyundai to a Porsche. The Def Techs sounded harsh, flat, and cheap in comparison to the Viennas. And the pricing reflects the quality, unfortunately...because I really wanted those Viennas. I am now saving for some Baby Grand Beethovens.

But I repeat....I have no experience with the models you are considering. I suggest you let your ears (and your wallet) make the decision

You're going to have to go with your ears on this choice. Very different type of sounds from those two brands. I also prefer the Vienna's and still own a pair of Haydn Grand's. But a lot of people on this forum own deftech's and swear by them. You should definiely be able to pick your favorite if you get to listen to them.

I have listened to both of them in a controled listening environment when visiting with Vienna and Def Tech Reps. I just can't decide which way to go. I am primarily using them for my Home Theater setup and some musical listening. My main music speakers are either going to be Martin's (if the wife gives the ok) or some Mirage speakers. I don't really have a price point so that is not a factor. I also see alot of reviews on Definitive speakers and have sworn by them myself, But I really liked the way the Vienna's sounded.

Well, that's a cat of a different color. Positive WAF and no budget limit! Ooh-wee, twoxtrm, you may become the envy of the neighborhood.

I did a 60-second review (http://forums.audioholics.com/forums/showthread.php?t=24955) of my trip to Magnolia Hifi last month. The Def Techs didn't get more than a mention and were the worst of the entire bunch.
