In these forums I believe most people have either Marantz, Denon or Yamaha receivers. Pricing in different places can vary quite a lot for various reasons. I don't know why Onkyo is expensive in India, perhaps they think it will sell at what ever price they put on them.

For projectors my knowledge is close to none, you should try Projectors & Screens section of these forums to ask about projector information.

Tried to look up options from google but can't really find anything. I believe there is one retailer in India for SVS but they don't list prices on their site. Did you ask them for the price, if so how much they ask for PB-1000 and SB-1000? And what is the price for Polk DSW PRO 660 wi for reference?

Do you have links for your local stores so we could see what is available and at what price? Or brands that are available for you?

SVS subs will give much better performance for value compared to Polk subs generally. http://www.acoustic-arts.com/brand/svs/ I would contact these guys and ask how much they sell SB/PB-1000 and SP/PB-2000 for.

Martin Logan makes some good subs, but they are generally quite expensive. To compare with said SVS subs you would need to get Dynamo 700 or 1000 and I would guess that they cost quite a lot more than said SVS models.

SVS bookshelf speakers offer good quality and some people in these forums have SVS speakers and they have liked them as far as I know. I think the Prime series is in your budget when taking Bookshelf as front, center and either bookshelf or satellites as surrounds, I would go with bookshelf as surrounds as well but some might say it doesn't matter that much. Ultra series is more expensive and I believe is over your budget. Which ever model you choose, take the center channel from same series as front speakers for better match.

Floor material doesn't really matter, if you have hard wood floor add carpet(s) to damped reflections.

SB is sealed and PB is ported. Commonly sealed subs are seen more musical than ported subs. Ported subs how ever have more low end extension and for that reason are more favoured in hometheater usage generally. How ever both subs work well in both scenarios. So it really depends on do you want more control or more low end extension which ever is best for your needs. I myself have 12" sealed sub and it does really well on HT usage as well.

If you watch more movies than listen music and movies are more your thing then I would get PB. If you focus more on music and want your music to sound as accurate as possible then get SB. As you mention that you like lower bass then PB might be more suitable for you.

Far from genius, just sharing my knowledge.

Out of those options I would go with Polk. Did you contact the SVS retailer for prices yet for subs / prime speakers? It is also worth to listen those speakers on your retailer and see which sound you like more. As in the end it is you who will be listening to them and what sounds best to you is most important in that case.

I haven't heard the said Jamo models. But in my experience Polk would be better choice. You should go and listen them yourself and see do you like the said Jamo models or Polk models better. Concentrate more on high/mid sounds than low sounds as you are getting a sub so they arent so important in speakers you choose. For the price of SVS PB-1000, when I convert INR to EUR it is same price as it is here. Pretty sure it is still good bang for bug there as well and better value than Polk subs.

Edit:
Pioneer SP-PK52FS 5.0 setup is good budget setup if it is available there and shouldn't cost a leg.

Can you please explaine how to select the Av receiver

Hi how to choose the right Av receiver for. Correct speakers

Av receiver is capabuilty for floor standing speakers like watts I am asking

For example
Marantz sr6010
  • 110 watts per channel into 8 ohms (20-20,000 Hz) at 0.08% THD, with 2 channels driven
Polk tsx440
8ohms
20-200watts

Dose this amp can handle this floor standing speakers along with other surround speakers .
