I used to have JBL S312 tower speakers. I gave them away, as they do not match the new living room furniture (wife's insistance ). They were good, overall speakers but not the greatest in the mid range realm, at low levels. This is were I'm coming from with speakers sounds. I listen to everything under the sun except Rap, Hip Hop,:( .

I need to replace them. I have come to narrow it down to the following choices:
Aperion Intimus 6T, Axiom M60 v2, JBL L880, and Wharfedale Diamond 9.6.
They all are similarly price. I am interested in mostly music listening (two channels, with the ocasional movie. If anybody in this forum has experience with these speakers, would you please, share your thoughs on them.

IMO you will be doing yourself a disservice if you didn't consider these speakers also for a 2 channel music system. They should pass the WAF also.

I second the Salk SongTower as well for music listening. From my readings from the owner's thread and Nuance's "Search for the perfect speaker" at avsforum.com they are an amazing speaker.

Depending on how large your room is, check out Ohm MicroWalsh Talls. I mention them mainly because of your mention of mid-range - they truly excel there - no crossover in the mids. Perfect small-footprint speakers for 2 channel music/movies.

I know all about integrating speakers with the living room - I'm going to try sending over a sheet of veneer to Ohm so they can refinish mine to match with my furniture...

The m60's are very nice from what I have heard at my friend's house. Better than decent bass, good mids, and accurate highs. They seem to like to play quite loud and look pretty nice-not as nice as some others, but more than adequate. Just a quick 2cents.

Ref. to Salk/SVS speakers

Thanks guys, It would be nice to own a pair of salk Song towers, or the SVS MTS-01, unfortunately :(, they are beyond my budget. All the speakers I mentioned above are in the $800-1000 US dollars range. The salk and the SVS are over $1500 US dollars.

Ref. SVS MBS-01

Thanks, the SVS MBS-01 are bookshelf speakers. I'm looking for floorstanding.
Also, I just realized, I have to take the Aperion Intimus 6T off the list. Their price was for one not per pair, this put them at $1500 US dollars. :(

The Ohms are a grand - they're in a different league than anything at this price...

Throw the PSB Image T45, T55 on your list of auditions. I own the T45s and rant and rave about em all the time. ;)

I think some people really need to get out, or find a way to audition some speakers. B&M, and ID.

No reason not to try the Aperions. They've got a great audition policy. Free shipping back. Only an upfront hit to try them. All monies are returned if you decide not to keep.

I love mine. They're before the recent redesign of the speakers.

I have listened to the M60s (own the M80s) and they are an excellent speaker for the money; quite worthey of consideration. In the end, you need to listen to the speakers on your list and decide from there.

If you are inferring about me, I've heard the B&M and yes they are good but there definately not the end all to be all speakers. For the price range taht I purchased my PSB, I liked them better. I've compared them to Axioms, Energys,Paradigms, and Polk and I preferred the sound.

Curious, have you heard all the ID brands you recommend? Sat down and auditioned them all?
