Speakers in Movie Theaters

Seriously, I have no life.
I saw the Avengers movie in the newly renovated local theater. The sound with the atmos mix was awesome. A+. At the end of the movie all the speakers lit up red and acted as lights. I though this was pretty cool. Any idea on how they did this?

Just out of curiosity, any idea on what sub-woofers are generally used in movie theaters?
Depends on who designed the system and the contractor- sometimes, the design is left open to whatever will meet the specs and sometimes, they use approved vendors (like LDS facilities).

Darn, that site is definitely not a fleebay. Even simple placing a bit requires 30 clicks.
Definitely made for dealers and wholesale buyers.
I found that once I had fully registered, I could actually bid with a single click. Most of their stuff is centered around the Washington, DC area. Good for me, but not for others. Yes, all about those looking to get a good deal. Their office furniture, especially conference tables, go for next to nothing quite often.

I have picked up a few things from their auctions, but not much. Sometimes their electronics are ridiculously overpriced and not at all a good deal.

That rack with the two Oppo players in it had certainly caught my eye. Not sure what the final price ended up as. I was out of town when it ended.

Here is a listing from a complete movie theater that recently shut down:

Besides the projector, it was a JBL setup with Crown amps and Soundweb DSPs.

Doesn't surprise me that QSC is coming up more. I've used quite a few of their products and we are seeing a lot more use with their Q-SYS DSPs.
I would have loved to have jumped on three of the Crown DS-2000's (even though I have absolutely no practical need for them). Next time I go to the cinema I'll ask how they did that lights on the speakers set up. Also If I can remember I try to take a video of it for you guys. It was fricken' awesome.
