Hi,

Would be the JBL L880/890 speakers a good match for a Harman Kardon AVR 340? I will upgrade from a SCS300.7, and should be starting with a pair of floorstanding, but before buying I would like to know some opinions.

Thanks,
Paulo

JBLs always sound good with HK gear. My personal choice would be the L890 over the L880. Especially if you don't use a sub.

Any 8 ohm speaker that you like the sound of will sound good with an H/K or any other receiver that you would choose to drive them with. The only time speakers and receivers become incompatible is when you get 4 ohm speakers and play them with an 8 ohm rec'r. In that case the 4 ohm speaker draws more current than an 8 ohm rec'r is capable of putting out.

Word on the street is that modern rec'rs do not affect the sound. They merely amplify what your source (cable/CD/DVD) put out. That's what I have been able to gather from hanging around Audioholics way too much. :)
