Hi all,
My mission: Install speakers with external audio source( my pc) in my bathroom.

Current bought components:

1. Pyle PLMR61W 6.5" White Waterproof Marine Stereo Speaker System - 120W

2. Amp: Behringer HA400

I'm kinda noobie and don't know how to install/connect all the components, so I've took photos of it all and need your advice how to do it? and whether I can do it?

Can someone guide me here?

thanks.
Liron.

There it is ...

Here are the pictures of all the components and need your help (or images if you can find on the net) of what should I buy and how to connect them all -

1. Speakers connectors + attached cables -

2. Amplifier input/outputs -

3. PC Audio outputs -

Thanks...

p.s - I'd like to know if the Amp is right for this kind of audio input (pc) and output (these marine speakers)

I'm not like the resident expert on this stuff but I'll tell you that I think your amp is a headphone amp that will not drive speakers. The other thing is that those speakers are 4 ohm which means that a pretty nice amp is required to drive them without blowing up. I got my info on the speakers here:

http://www.thetwistergroup.com/store/customer/product.php?productid=PLMR61W D37224&source=fr

The cost of an amp that you would need for those speakers as opposed to the cost of an amp that you would need for 8 ohm speakers by far exceeds the value of those speakers. I think you need to start over. :(

One thing I can tell you for sure is that if you post pic's in a 800x600 resolution the pic won't force people to be constantly panning left and right to read every line of text. I'm enough of a noob to have just learned that stuff recently. :)

Yes, unfortunately your kind of up a creek with well... everything you bought so far :(

The amplifier as stated by by alex is for headphones and cannot drive a pair of speakers. The speakers arent meant for in-wall use which is what I am assuming you want to do with them. In wall speakers have special mounting systems so they can be fastened to the drywall. You could probably rig something up with drywall anchors to be able to use your marine speakers but your really better off just returning them and getting something made for inwall. If you were planning on putting them in some boxes or something you could do that though. You also dont need to get a marine speaker for use in a bathroom. As far as i know nearly all inwall speakers will be fine in there and i have never seen one fail. If it was inside a shower pehaps a different story..

As far as the amplifier goes, what are you looking to spend here? Those might be 4 ohm speakers but with something like this nearly any amplifier will drive them just fine as large amounts of current will not be required. There are many options though so it just depends on what you want to spend. And also how flexible do you want. Do you want to be able to add on more speakers down the road etc?

I will also chime in and say that the OP definitely needs a different AMP or receiver. Err... he/she needs a new soundcard, too. The onboard motherboard soundcards really, really suck. Even with CHEAP PC speakers, the difference is notable. I know this is for the bathroom, so we're not doing critical listening.

In-wall speakers should be boxed anyway according to most. Were you planning on using these for in-walls or in-ceiling? Granted, true in-walls don't need a full enclosure around them the way these would.

http://www.dsmiller.com/html/Electronics-Mobile-Audio-Speakers-Mobile-PLMR61W.htm

It's possibly workable. However, if you can return it and get even some indoor/outdoor in-ceiling speakers (like those Diesel Audio I listed in the Fry's ad) instead, it would be much, much easier.

BTW, an inexpensive two channel AMP won't cost that much. You don't need to spend $1k+ on an Emotiva, Mark Levinson, Rotel amplifier, etc. A cheap AudioSource, Behringer, etc. will serve you just fine for a simple bathroom audio application.

actually ...

What I thought is to install the speakers in the bathroom by arranging some box for them and just hang them there ...

So, as far as I understand, I will return the Amp (and maybe get my money back ...), the speakers were ordered from ebay from the the US (I live in Israel), so I guess I can't return them ...

And now, I need your specific help.

I need two or three offers for Amp+Speakers that will do the work at minimum cost (because I'll probably order from the US and the shipping+taxes will "kill" my budget)

BTW - when using the on-board soundcard with my altec-lansing ATP3 speakers I hear great.

Thank you all for helping me ... this forum rocks !

Haoleb said that those speakers would work with just about any amp. I believe I thanked him to indicate that I appreciated the correction and explaination he provided. He also asked you about your budget. How much money can you spend on just the product, excluding taxes and shipping?

Reguarding your sound card sounding great I have to say that the first thing that pops into my head is, compared to what? The members around here would love to make your personal listening experience of the highest caliber. The only thing you might need to watch out for is spending your rent money while playing along.

I saw that those speakers could be had for $15 so I'm going to guess that your budget is pretty tight. To my way of thinking your source/sound card are going to be a determining factor in sound quality. I would believe Allogoron (sp?) based on what I know of his knowledge level and what I have heard other computer savy folks say.

I have seen older rec'rs on eBay go for under $100.

Good luck,
Alex

Would these speakers I bought will do? I missed this sentence ...
So? what am I going to buy? only Amp?

As far as I'm concerned (and my budget) I can spend about 40$ on the amp ...

Those speakers will work and you just need to buy an amp.
For $40 you will have to buy used and local meaning that you will pick it up from the seller. You can't afford to pay for shipping. Now there are connectors and speaker wire to pay for as well. I don't see a way to strech $40 that far. I think you should apply the $40 toward a sound card so that you can have better music at your computer.

How much time do you spend in the bathroom? Do you have a condition? :D

well ...

The truth is that it's a gift for my wife (which spend there about an hour and a half when she wash her hair ...) and we might spend more time there when a new born baby will come in the near future :)

So, If I understand correctly the HA400 won't even supply the minimum for these speakers ah?

I'll try to find a local Amp seller, any examples for this kind of Amp guys? (with model numbers if you can) ...

Look for an AudioSource AMP-100, I bought a refurb for 53 bucks so maybe you could find a used one for 35 or 30 bucks.

It is actually a really good amp.

Did you really mean "It's like a..." or was that supposed to be "I'm like a..."?!
Might I recommend staying away from spicy food
There appears to be enough "heat" already!
