Speaker Upgrade from Athena Point-5MKII

Hi, I have a few simple questions.

I bought the Athena Point-5 MKII system 2 years ago (with SVS PB-10 sub). I sometimes hear a static sound comming from the tweeters on the fronts from all sources, plus the sound could be a little better. They were good for the price paid, but I am thinking of an upgrade.

I know timbre matching is an issue, and that these will match up with the old SCT series or Audition series speakers.

Has anyone had experience with the C.5 centre channel vs. the Audition C1.5 speaker? Would there be a noticable difference in quality in the mid range? Also, would upgrading to a floor standing speaker in this series be worth while? OR.... should I be looking into replacing all the fronts with a different brand? I am just concerned with having different brands for surrounds and fronts..... and futureshop has recently removed the Athena centre channel from their stock, so finding one that I can listen to will be a problem (they never did really have any available for listening anyway).

Thanks in advance for advice/opinnions.

Whats your budget?

About the static sound, when does it occur? What sources? Have you tried disconnecting all put one of your sources to see if the static goes away? A speaker reproduces sounds sent to it. I'm not sure from your description whether its the speaker, one of your sources, or the receiver.

The C1.2 is a more robust speaker

http://www.audioadvisor.com has it on sale for $100 and I've heard tell it's a good match for their point series.

But, if you want to upgrade "on the cheap". you can also get a PAIR of Athena Audition AS-B1.2s for another $100. That solves your front speaker problems for a total of $200, and a guaranteed timbre match.

I have not tried to disconnect everything, but it seems to happen when there is an "S" sound, either speach or sound effects. It mostly happens in games, but also DVD's, TV..... etc. I hear it clearly in the start movie of Call of Duty 4.

markw: I am just hesitant on buying a speaker I have never heard. If people here tell me that with their experience, it is an upgrade..... I may take the risk.;)
