Speaker Testimonials...

I am seriously considering three different brands of wall hung speakers to go with my Yamaha XR-V659 and 50" Panasonic Plasma screen to create my own sort of 'Poor Man's Home Theatre System'. To this point I have looked at Paradigm 330 LCR / Sinclair Sculptura S1 / and B & W bookshelf models. The feedback on the B & W and Paradigms is available and positive- but I haven't been able to get anything on the Sinclair speakers other than what's available on their website sinclairaudio.com - which is basically nil.
I'm wondering if anyone here has any experience with Sinclair - specifically the S1 S2 & C1 models of their line and just how they stack up perrformance-wise to the other brands (which they closely mimic in size and specs from the little I can find)?
I know the Sinclairs are made in Canada and a dealer close to me who deals in pretty high end stuff seems to think they are great value for the money (a little less than the Paradigms) and for wall mounted situations sound a little less high pitched than the Paradigms which is commonly a complaint of bookshelf / hangable speakers with such restricted cabinet size.
I know its a very subjective thing but has anyone here in the forum heard any or all of these wall mountable versions and wished to give some feedback on how they thought they matched up?
Anyone have any more background on the Sinclair history and whether they in fact are considered a quality product in comparison to the other brands I have mentioned?
I eventually will have two fronts on the wall on either side of my plasma, a centre below, two smaller rears, and a decent sized sub to compliment the rest but intended not blow everyone out of the room.
Thanks for any input regarding all of these ???'s - Randy

They were sold at a chain in Canada called Audio Video Unlimited. I've never seen them in person though.

Ask Cygnus, he has some Sinclair speakers I beleive.

Why mess around with unknowns - the B&Ws are the safe bet in my opinion - my LCR6 S2s sound great - but my JM Labs Cobalts sound different but great too.

and wonderful products. There are few relative Canadian unknowns that would make B&W sound like dirty dishwater draining down a sink. Ok, maybe that is a lil harsh but my point is that one should investigate everything that peaks your interest and audition them. An informed decision which is based on lots of auditions is peace of mind unless of course, you heard something you fell in love with but can't afford. Thats torture *chuckles*

PSB also offers on walls and have garnered favourable reviews by Home Theater magazine.

Just tossing out an another option.

I intend to try and compare the Sinclair's against a few others as you advise - was just wishing members might have piped up with some first- hand knowledge about them from either an ownership position or from having heard them in a demo or set up in a home theatre situation. The Sinclair brand seems to be very well built and an attractive design (which is obviously a consideration when they hang directly in the field of view beside a wall mounted screen) - but I know little about speakers in general aside from what appears to be a very robust weight and well fitted and finished construction.
Actually, and this may sound very illogical, I really don't have anywhere the hearing I had even ten years back due to some work-related hearing loss and advancing years and I really hope that a series of speakers mounted around will assist me in hearing even the local newscasts on the TV without blasting everyone else out of the room - movies / Hi Def TV will just be a bonus with a surround setup for me!
That said, probably just about any decent 5.1 or better surround system would help me out in this regard, I suspect - but I also enjoy good music, albeit at a slightly louder level than my wife would normally enjoy easy listening at (some of which is latent immaturity I admit) which is why I got a Yamaha RX-V659 to push whatever I decide on. The latest review and kudos it has received here has just helped me feel better that it was a good choice for what I intend to do with it!
The little I have heard of the sharpness of the B & W's hasn't really appealed to me all that much - but I will try and get them and the Paradigm's as well as the Sinclair's arranged for a series of listening adventures and go from there - as other than those brands I don't have much else around here to throw into the mix... Thanks - Randy

Hey Guys,

I have the Sinclair Audio Sculptura Series 5.1 surround sound speakers and they consist of 3 SC4's for the (F,R,L) and 2 SC2"s for the rears and the LS210 sub woofer. I have them connected to my Onkyo TX-SR805B Receiver and to be honest these speakers KICK ***!!! I had seen the 2005 series connected in Top Choice Electronics in Woodbridge, Ontario and fell in love with them when I heard them connected to a basic Onkyo receiver watching King Kong but I didn't know they would sound this great being the 2007 speaker lineup with the NEW Onkyo TXSR805B Receiver which by the way is an awesome receiver even at $1500 CA. Whether you are listening to Andrea Bocelli, 50 Cent, Arabic, Afghan or Indian music or want to hear the true 5.1 in King Kong or Superman Returns this system rocks!!! I wasn't too impressed by the SS1 or SC2's being used as the fronts or center of a home theater but I guess it would depend on you room size and all those other factors but paired with a powerful receiver like the one I have you will get the best out of these speakers.

I have seen this brand mentioned here, and praised. I would re-name the thread with Sinclair Audio in the thread name. You should get better results that way.;)
