Speaker Suggestions for Modest 5.1 System

Ok, here's the deal: I'm new to higher end audio, but want to put a nice 5.1 system together for movie and music listening.
Here's what I have so far:

Samsung LNT4671F LCD TV
Yamaha RXV663
PS3

All I need now is a nice set of speakers, and thought I'd ask here since this seems like the right place to ask :)

The room dimensions are roughly 15' x 13' x 10'h

I have a budget of around $800 for speakers, which is really pushing it. Terrible, I know, but . . . the wife, you know :)

Essentially, I'm looking for a speaker system that will provide very good music AND movie listening performance.

At present, I'm trying to decide whether to go with tradional tower L/R Fronts, or to go with smaller bookshelf speakers for these since space is at a premium.

For space reasons, I've been seriously considering Energy's RC-Micro 5.1 System or the Take 5 Classic. However, no one seems to have them available to listen to. They've both had outstanding reviews, and the newer "RC-Micro" seems better, but of course you pay for it.

Has anyone had experience with these systems here?
And, if so, are these smaller systems really capable of providing the fullness of tower speakers? I've read conflicting articles on this, some stating that tower speakers are definately the way to go. Other's stating that with new technologies (especially if you add a sub) you dont need towers.

And, if the smaller speakers actually do provide the sound quality I'm looking for, are they actually priced higher than a tower speaker system that would get you the same sound quality?

I hope these questions arent too nooby. But, then again, I'm a noob and this is my first post.

Any suggestions or advice you can provide would be very welcome.

I would go with the $799 Av123 ELT 5.0 package and get a sub later. If you need speakers high on WAF, the Mirage Nanosats from Vanns ($249) and an HSU sub. A good bookshelf option would be an Ascend HTM-200SE setup with an HSU sub.

You can also get the SVS SBS-01 5.0 package for $599 and then add a sub later as well, or add a less expensive sub now within your budget.

You could add the Dayton 12" sub to that system and stay within your budget.

You could also consider going with a 2.1 or 3.1 system for now and then adding rear speakers at a later date. You could build the Infinity Kappa Perfect 12 subwoofer (there is a build thread in the DIY forum) and still have enough money left over for a really nice set of bookshelf speakers. That 2.1 setup would kill any budget 5.1 system.

The Speaker Company has several 5.1 systems to choose from.
