Usually do you just put the speaker on top of the stand without having anything to secure it from possibly wobbling or falling off it? I have a set of old stands that instructed to drill holes in the bottom of the speakers in order to screw them on but I thought that's just absurd and decided not to.

When I had bookshelf speakers I secured mine with small bolts. I would secure them with something unless nobody comes over and you have no kids.

If you just want to keep the speakers from walking around the stands and falling off, you can get some sticky back rubber feet and put them on the bottom of the speaker. I got mine at Home Depot. You could also use Velcro to hold them on or double-sided sticky tape. I wouldn’t drill holes in your speakers unless you don’t mind it.

2 Sided tape will work as well. As Exit said I would not drill holes in the speakers....
