Speaker set up advise (7.1.2 vs 5.1.4)

I have 7.1.2 wired home theater room. My receiver has 7.1.2 and 5.1.4 configuration. Currently I am configuring with 5.1.2 with 2 Celling speaker. I have 2 open port at back of the room. Originally I was planning to add surround back speaker but I saw some post saying 5.1.4 is much better than 7.1.2. Since it is already finished room I am unable add another celling speaker. So I wondered if I can add rear height speakers back of the wall instead of surround back speaker and set to 5.1.4 configuration. Please give me some advise.

You can add rear height speakers. mount them close to the ceiling and aim towards listener. There would work good as they have a built in angle.

Also., yes, 5.1.4 would be better than 7.1.2 as you would have sound being able to be panned from front to back overhead.
