Speaker popping... any fixes?

Hello..

I have a subwoofer that makes an odd popping sound after it gets to a certain volume level. It sounds great until I turn it up fairly loud, and then it starts making an awful popping noise when the bass hits.

I looked at the speaker itself, and there is a small crease in the speaker about 2.5" or so I'd say. The speaker is a 12" sub. Does anyone know if it's possible to fix this relatively inexpensively?

Thanks for your time.

Sounds like you may have damaged the cone. The driver will need replaced. What brand of sub is this? Is it still under warranty?

Unfortunately, the Alpine sub isn't still under warranty. Any idea on how much it will cost to replace? (This is actually a car stereo sub, but I figured you guys know speakers and may be able to help me.)

I would say that you are bottoming out your driver.
