Speaker pair for Yamaha RX-V663

For better or worse I've just purchased a Yamaha RX-V663 and now I'm looking for some decent speakers for my living room. I'm looking at starting off with two floor standing speakers initially, then purchasing a sub later down the track.

I need help! The sum total of my knowledge of audio equipment comes from reading these forums the past couple of days. I'm sorry, I'm just not very talented in this area.

I can get good discount (through work) on any Dali speakers & was considering something like the Dali IKON 6 but would these even work well with my receiver? Would it just be stupid? I've also been looking at Klipsch RF62, but I'd have to pay full price for these. What do you recommend would be a good match for my V663 & in the price range of up to around $1500AU?

The Dali Ikon 6 is a supurb speaker if you can get them for a deal DO IT. I have not heard the 6 but have listened to a few others in the Dali line they were all very good. They are 6ohm speakers and the Yamaha should be able to handle them no problem. You could also get another amp and use your Yammie as a preamp and the speakers would have even more clean power to sing.....

Well that's good to hear; I'm definitely leaning towards getting the Dali & they do look very nice. But after spending that kinda cash I wouldn't be too keen on turning my new Yammy in to a pre-amp =p

Are we certain they'd go ok with said receiver?
