Speaker orientation (a weird question)

Hi,

Let’s say there’s a 3 way speaker. Two woofers for bass on the left and right, and a midrange driver in the middle with a tweeter above it.

If I were to place it vertically instead of horizontally, will it sound any different?

Yes, it will. That sounds like a center speaker designed properly to avoid the lobing issues of the ubiquitous horizontal MTM center speakers. That speaker should be horizontal and NOT vertical.

The tweeter would cause a lobing pattern with the midrange driver at off-axis angles. You would be creating a problem that design was specifically made to mitigate.
