Hey all, quick question. First off, this is the speaker setup i have

onkyousa.com/model.cfm?m=HT-SP904&class=Systems&p=s

I wish i could have something a lil better, but there are certain issues with living with parents who care not about quality but more on size and overall appearance. I had to heavily persuade them to return the Bose speakers which they bought. $1000 and worse then the $200 Aiwa NSX-D30 stereo that i have. "Better profits through marketing." That brings me to my question, cause I want to take my Aiwa speakers and use them as my front two speakers. The Aiwa speakers are labeled as 80w and 6Ω. Could anyone tell me if the Aiwa speakers will work with my reciever. I dont know much about this topic, yet, and i do not wish to test this myself as i dont want to ruin either my speakers or especially any part of the reciever.

Thank you.

The Onkyo receiver is rated at 8 ohms–16 ohms

Alright so then no. As I said I do not know much and thus am asking questions so I can learn. What would be the outcome anyway of putting those speakers into my reciever?

I really don't know much about those speakers, or how taxing (or how much of a load) they can be to an amplifier. But being 6ohm speaker they can make a receiver run a little hot. Depending on how low they dip in ohms they could put the receiver into protection mode and shut it down.

So then what is the...

Dynamic Power 210 W (3 ohms, 1 ch)
180 W (4 ohms, 1 ch)
110 W (8 ohms, 1 ch)

...all about? What is this telling me about the receiver?
