Hello, I'm looking to set up a system in my room it's medium sized about 16x22 I'm preffer a 5.1 system but thinking I should go for a 2.1 now upgrading later. the budget is about $400-500 since I'm still a college student I already have a reciever a Harmon and kardon gotten for 107 on ebay. I've heard good things about the speaker company are their tst-1s good.

Thanks,

for a nice entry level system it is hard to beat Polk Monitor series speakers and Polk CS1 or CS2 center channel speaker to match.

A pair of Monitor 50 towers and a TSC subwoofer would be a great 2.1

add a Polk CS1 center channel and you have a very nice 3.1 system. Add the surrounds, like the Monitor 30's at any time.

Being you already have a Harman-Kardon receiver, might stay with harman speakers (JBL, Infinity). Get good deals on their ebay store.

Contunue your e-bay approach. This will effectively double your budget by going used. See whats out there in Ascend, Axiom, and the mainstream brands. I have purchased used high quality speakers on e-bay several times. I recently won 2 Mackie HR824 monitors for less than 600, just half of the new price. Good luck.

You could find used Paradigm Monitor 9's in your budget and wouldn't need a sub for now. They rock and you could certainly build a 5.1 around them.
Sorry I haven't heard the tst-1.
Keep us informed.

Yes, I would agree with that. That is the lower line by Klipsch and are they ever bright. Listener fatigue? Some would say they make the ears bleed. Not for everybody but Klipsch has their loyal following as do the other mainstream brands such as B&W, Paradigm, Infinity, etc...

Infinity lower lines are pretty good. You might do a search on Beta 20 to see what is out there. Also see if any used Paradigm studio 20 are out there.

Nice little setup Adam......
Yeah, both of those products are really great for their price point. You'd have to spend considerably more money to get similar performance from other products.

Really they can make your ears bleed? But I do know by what you mean they are bright. I saw some klipsh speakersat best buy and listened to them the xr series and thier cs-700 they really aren't suited for music
