Speaker level input VS LFE cable

I just dug out my old Carver for playing vinyl and hooked it up to sub with speaker level inputs. and out to stereo front speakers . WOW what a difference giving the sub and main speakers a full signal .. The divers are working a lot harder than playing back on dennon with mains set as small and bass going out LFE. I can hear the difference between both set ups clearly

Are you sure the sub dosent have a fixed crossover on the speaker level outs?

Sub cross over set at below 50hz and volume level on sub set at 1/8 from full . I think the big difference is giving the mains full signal and not set as small like on the dennon . Could be me just asking if anyone has heard the same on theirs ?No line level Out Puts juts inputs ...wired per diagram

In theory it's no difference in the setup, as you are still using a crossover. What your are hearing is different equipment. If you setup the denon wo any room correction and level match to the Carver I'd bet there isnt as much difference as you think.

The Carver is giving a unfiltered pure stereo signal and the dennon is already filterd fronts as small and sending bass out LFE .. I tried this because of a video from the PS audio guy and he swears by speaker signal input for subs . The front drivers are like old school and getting full unfiltered signal from receiver Only filter is on the sub and speakers are 100% signal letting the speaker cross overs do all the work instead of receiver. Bass and treble knobs set at 0 on the carver. Try it and watch your front mains on pure stereo visible difference in cone movement

Only .lfe goes out lfe. The speakers set to small redirects all the sub frequencies below the crossover to the sub. It's the same thing, different method.

Two different connections that bound to make a difference. You could, however, narrow the gap by using the 4806 in the following ways:

1. Simply use LFE+Main
2. Use the same connections with the 4806, that is, connect the sub to the 4806's L and R speaker output posts. Then set the 4806 to subwoofer "No".

This is the point I was trying to make . There is a noticeable difference between the two. Pus I am only playing vinyl records with a M/M cartridge on the carver 2.1 channels and playing only digital Wav and DVD-A with4.1 channels hooked up on the Denon . It makes for a pure old school analog experience with the vinyl on the Carver. And its nice to have some sound pumping out the old Carver . Still sounds great

But if you set the mains to large and sub to life+main, the mains will get full range signal right?

Yes on the Denon if I set mains to large ..both fronts will get full range signal and if I hit pure stereo if will shut off all other processors and just fire the 2 fronts and LFE I love the Denon and keeping it hooked to the digital stuff .. Cause it Kicks ass. I am going to be building a 4 Ohm MTM fronts soon and the carver will take 4ohm load in 2 driven channels says so in writing in owners manual. I don't want to risk frying the Denon cause I love that too

I can't kill it and it sounds great. It has a thermal shut down safety if you push it too hard. I played it at 3/4 throttle for 2 hours today and it loved it.
