Mike, if all you have is line level inputs to the sub,

you are correct, all the DLS-R models EXCEPT for the 5000R have highpassed speaker level outs. alas, my 5000R's only have line level outputs. there are power lines running parallel to the wires I'd like to avoid, it would seem that speaker wires are less affected by interference than the coaxial cables.

I dont know how you could even do what your trying to do except at the output of the preamp stage. I would think that tapping the signals from the outputs of the amp without some kind of an attenuator circuit will blow your line level input of the sub.

since I don't have the external crossover yet (budget concerns)
I plan to use the sms-1 to:

from receiver L and R pre-out into the sms-1
output 80hz highpass into the mains amplifier for the LEFT and RIGHT
output 100hz or 80hz lowpass into the stereo subs

also, my 50hz fmod highpass has arrived!

it has a fixed 80hz highpass output

but has a variable low pass

if the overlap between 80hz and 100hz doesn't create a null, problem really is solved if it peaks, I can EQ it down.

It definitely won't hurt to try it out then. If it works well you saved yourself some money, if not you will be able to tweak the system to the nth degree with a new crossover.
