Speaker Impedance Mismatch

I have a pair of Canton speakers which are 4ohms and a pair of klipsch speakers which are 8 ohms. Are there decent receivers out there that can handle mismatch through dual power supply? - The reveiver I have now is a low level Sony and I really need to upgrade. I have also heard of speaker control boxes....what is my best option?

are you gonna use both at the same time?

is one pair the mains and the other as surrounds? or both as stereo fronts?

using one on speaker A and the other on speaker B terminals of receivers will be fine ... just don't use them at the same time.

These are separate rooms - and I want to drive both at same time

do you have a max budget?

does your sony have pre-outs?

is this for background music? how loud do you think these will play?

I am thinking up $1000. I just don't want to buy an integrated amp/receiver, plug it in and face same situation. I guess my other option is to get a pair of Canton bookshelves at 4ohms. I enjoy music but I don't push it up that high 100/150 watts is plenty

wow, a thousand bucks is gonna let you buy amp power for whatever speakers you want.

my suggestion: anything with pre-outs plus external amp.

e.g. Yamaha RX-V659 or 661 or 663 + Behringer A500 (this amp is stable to 4 ohms, but doesn't have a 12v trigger) = im guessing this will not exceed 700 bucks.
or
Rotel RA-1062/RA-05 + RB1070 or RB1050 = depending on where you are should be around 1k
or
Outlaw Audio RR2150 stereo receiver + Behringer A500 = less than 900 bucks
or
Harman Kardon 3485 + Rotel RB1070 = less than 800 bucks

or any combination of the above.

they are outputs on the integrated amp where you can connect an external amp so that the external amp gets the same signal the integrated amp gets, and is volume controlled by the integrated amp as well.

or with that big of a budget, consider two integrated amps as well.

Right now I have a JVC RX618V - I think I paid $280 15 years ago - seems like a low-end amp. I would rather have 1 high-end and do it right. I was looking at NAD or Cambridge

What are pre-outs?
They are outputs from the preamp section of a receiver, so you can connect a power amplifier. This way you can connect both your sets of speakers. If you connect 2 sets of four ohm speakers at once your impedance will be 2 ohm, which is far too low. A separate amp for the second set of speakers is the way to go, or use the receiver for the second set, and get a good amp for your main system.
