So I will be moving to a new apartment on Monday and have been contemplating what to do in terms of my home theater for a little bit now. Currently living in a loft, I have a large living space that easily accomodates the RTi12s and the industrial look has made it easy to run wires for the surround channels and such. While I am moving into much large apartment, it is a traditional home not like the loft with 18' ceilings and wide open spaces...

Because of this I have been contemplating simply going to 2 channel in terms of function and practical instalation issues. At first I was considering just keeping my speakers and doing the RTi12's with the PB13 and be done. But I have also been considering look at Paradigm Studio 40s or even Signature S4's which would save on space...

Any thoughts and input on this speaker idea and movies in 2 channel as opposed to the full gamut would be much appreciated...

Movies in stereo aren't all that bad. Sometimes I do it, even though I have a full 5.1 system. I'd suggest that (if you haven't already) you try it out in your current place, as you could switch between stereo and full surround very easily. Well, I'm assuming that your Denon can do it as easily as my Pioneer, but maybe not.

You could also look into some of the techniques discussed around here for running wires to the back wall and/or wireless options. I thought about both for years, but I ended up running flat wire under my new carpet when it was installed in December.

I love your sig picture.

I suggest modding the Behringer 2030ps as Wmax specifies. He says they make a great high end bookshelf once modded.

You still will probably want a sub. But since you place is shrinking you could look into a DIY JL Audio 8w7 option. The driver is incredibly capable.

Also I've heard even a modded primus bookshelf makes a good speaker.

The only way for me to run the surround channels would be to use paintable ducting which could be used in corners up to the ceiling and then to where it needs to go...so not the best but really the only solution...Not to mention I don't know if the wall studs are locted appropriately in order to mount the TV which has to be done to accomodate the center channel...

All these variables is why I was possibly consdering going to some more higher end stereo speakers and staying put until I can have a dedicated space....
