speaker construction?

I have narrowed the surround speakers for my HT down to either the sonance symphony s625t and the speakercraft cinema dipole/aim wide. I am looking for information of the differences in speaker construction. The sonance have beryllium dome tweeters and beryllium cones. The speakercrafts have Aluminum dome tweeters and kevlar cones. How do these different materials affect sound quality and reliability? The receiver used for these will be either the integra dtr8.8 or denon 4308.

Have you auditioned them? IMO I don't care if they are made of paper, kevlar, or whatever. Sound is the most important thing to me. The only driver I check to see what material it's made from is the tweeter.

And those AIM Wides are awesome. :D

unfortunatly none of the stores where I live keep the higher end inwall/inceiling speakers in stock. I am going on information and opinions that I can get out of the good people online.

The cone materials are only one part, of a system of parts designed to work in harmony together. One must try to determine if a company used a certain cone material simply to say they used it or for actual beneficial properties. Based upon the reputations of both companies at hand, I am sure they both have very good reasoning for their uses.

As mazer stated the sound is the most important. I feel you cannot go wrong with either option.

Yes, this is so true! I've heard inexpensive speakers using cheap parts that still sounded great! I've also heard expensive speakers that I didn't think were very good at all. It's all about the design of the speaker. If it sounds good, go for it! :D
