I am looking to buy the Onkyo TX-SR605 which comes as a package with Jamo S606 HCS 6 speakers. I am not thrilled with the physical size of the Jamo speakers and would like to get a different set of speakers.

Jamo also has the A102 series but would not utilize the full potential of the sr605. I have also looked at the Bose - Acoustimass 10 Series VI but can not find any specs on the system and it seems to get very bad reviews.

Any suggestions for a good 5.1 speaker system that would fit the tx-sr605 and will not overwhelm a small apartment? The system would need to be compatible to AC 220 - 240.

thks

Bose gets bad reviews for good reason. Save your money. That said, start by audition some different speakers. Speakers are the most important part of a system and will impact the sound substantially. We can give you some ideas of what to look at. What's your budget for speakers? If it's $999 which is what I think that Bose system sells for, you have quite a few options. Do you have a preference for floorstander vs. bookshelf vs. satellite (low-profile)?

budget would be around $1000, i've listened to several from Jamo, Onkyo and yamaha. I am looking for something that is not visual obtrusive and is small is size. could go on a bookshelf

overall I am looking for great sound quality but in a small box.

There are a lot of bookshelf possibilities so auditioning is a must. But I'll throw Orb Audio out there as they're very unobtrusive and high on the WAF. I think the 5.1 system can be had for around $800.
