"Sparkles" on my 50" plasma

I have been experiencing a green and red sparkle type effect in the picture on my 50" philips plasma tv. It has gotten progressively worse as time goes by and it is worse when the tv is cold and diminishes slightly as the tv warms up. I have heard that making small adjustments to the voltage can correct this problem. Has anyone else experienced these symptoms before? Any ideas on how to fix it without calling a repairman? The TV is out of warranty.

Also, I have gone through a process of elimination (cables, AV equipment, etc.) to determine that it is the tv with the problem.

Try unpluuging for awhile and then plugging back in. It is likely the board and will need to be serviced or replaced. Is it still under warranty?

Unfortunately, the warranty has expired. That is why I am trying to fix it without calling a repairman($$$). I have tried unplugging it, we recently moved and the problem is still there. Any other thoughts? Have you heard of the voltage adjustment thingy?

I am guessing you are using HDMI to the display.

Try a different HDMI cable as this could be data loss across the HDMI connection. If you continue to have serious issues, you may want to try a component video connection which will still deliver the HD goods, but likely without the sparklies.

Get a decent HDMI cable for not a lot of cash at Monoprice - should do the job nicely.

Like I said in my original post, I have tried different cables including component. No change. The fact that it clears up as the TV warms up also leads me to believe that it is the TV. I found this while searching the net for answers... http://www.jopezu.com/plasma.htm ...Sounds easy enough, but I am no TV tech and I wouldn't want to blow the thing up. I am watching the TV right now and there are only a few sparkles(hardly noticable) after the TV has been on for a few hours. But, when I turn it on from cold it is barely watchable, especially when there are dark scenes with high contrast ie. HDNet concert.

red, green sparkles

did you ever get an answer to your question about the sparkle problem? I am having the same identical issues. When teh TV is just turned on and cold I get a lot of sparkles. After teh TV has been on for a while and warmed up, the sparkles seem to almost go totally away.

Thanks!
