Is anyone familiar with or know anything about the brand name "soundstage" speakers that are made in Canada? The good, bad or ugly? I have been thinking about upgrading my rear surround speakers. Here is their website

http://www.soundstage-audio.com/home.html

Thanks

It looks like white van crap to me. Stay away. What is your budget for your surrounds? What speakers do you have up front?

The two front speakers are older Audiosphere Research, Profiles (4 ohm) and a Mirage Omni S8 subwoofer. I run those with a HK AVR140.

Would probably spend around $250.00 give or take on rear surrounds now and buy my center channel later to maybe match the two rear speakers when I have the cash.

Little harsh for a product you know nothing about.

I don't know if they are good or bad. An audition is always a good way of finding out whether or not they are or aren't legit. The curved back of these speakers leads me to believe that they are not white van speakers.

I don't think they are "white van" speakers either. They are sold by a reputable franchise where I live. From what I understand, they are a new line that are out fairly recently and not too many people are familiar with them. I guess the listen test would be the way to tell. The store that sells them offers a 30 day return, no questions asked.

I agree, the curve seems like it would be to expencive for a "white van" manufacture to buld.

They may not be white van speakers but that doesn't mean they are a good buy. I have never seen or heard them but when a manufacturers website has such a poor quality pixelated picture on their home page and sparse information on their product that is a red flag to me.

Again, I've never seen them and they may be perfectly fine but I would recommend a more well known budget brand such as Athena or BIC.

I understand what your saying but until auditioned, ya never know. They maybe the new Athena or Bic out on the street. It appears that these speakers are sold thru a dealer network, have a warranty, etc. Not well know doesn't mean they are or are not good.

I have the 800's for my fronts an the 500's for the rears. Iam really happy with them. my room is huge about 8oo sq.feet with a loft an they work really well with throwing out the sound. I never paid the asking price for them. not sure where in Canada your from but at visions in lethbridge you can talk them down. Once I get some more money I wanna pick up another pair of 500's for my far back rears. my wife says I gotta get rid of all my old stuff first. lol

Just down the road

Hey Bruin

Thanks for the reply.

I'm just an 1 1/2 down the road from you in Med. Hat.

Send me a PM. I'm curious to what you paid for the 500's so when I go into Visions, I'll have an idea of what I should be paying.

Sorry for the totally off track comment....but there's a great British band that plays Southern Rock (American) music and is named after that wonderful Canadian town of yours....Medicine Hat. (I guess they spent a lot of time there.) Check 'em out.... http://www.hobarts.co.uk/medhat/home.htm

Good cheer.
