RCA to soundbar. Any ideas? TV sound is there but none to the soundbar. Only thing I can think of is the RCA cable is bad. (Note there is no HDMI option on this.)

Could be a setting in the TV to switch output to RCA.

RCA out on a TV ??
Been a long long time since Ive seen that.....optical pretty much replaced RCA out a long time ago.
I'll have to get an optical connection. No HDMI though.

Naxa/Samsung with a simple rca connection.
Was more interested in specific models to check manuals/connections. If you do have the ability to use optical that sounds like a good way to go, altho could still need particular settings to work.

There was that PCM option within settings but that didn't do anything.

Give us model numbers and we can assist you futher.

It's just speculation at this point.
No point in asking for help without giving specific model numbers.

It is a familiar case of RTFM!

What you need to know is on page 26 of your TV manual.

For better audio quality, it is a good idea to use an AV receiver.
● If you connect an external audio device using an optical cable, the Sound Output setting is automatically
changed to the connected device. However, to make this happen, you must turn on the external audio device
before connecting the optical cable. To manually change the Sound Output setting, do one of the following:
– Use the Quick Settings screen to change to the connected device:
Use the Select button to select Audio Out/Optical on the Sound Output menu. ( Settings up
directional button Sound Output).
– Use the Settings screen to change to the connected device:
Select Audio Out/Optical on the Sound Output menu. ( Settings Sound Sound Output).
● An unusual noise coming from a connected audio device while you are using it may indicate a problem with
the audio device itself. If this occurs, ask for assistance from the audio device's manufacturer.
● Digital audio is only available with 5.1 channel broadcasts.

I guess looking at that Naxa you either have the RCA connections to the aux 2 connection on the Naxa and in the source mode on the remote and chose aux2, or you have a opt 1 mode on the Naxa to your tv and it notes chose opt 1 from the source menu on the remote. Just a guess

The TV shows a Opt out and a Component RCA L & R. When all fails try another cable and connection point . The TV manual does note using opt out ( according to the quick set up pic)

OF course like TLS noted, for the best audio, use a AVR

No AVR. Just trying to make the audio a little louder on my ma's tv. She has hearing aids now though so this is just a testing phase. The instructions you show are what I was fiddling around with.

Yep RTFM LOL.

The source mode can be done manually also with a button. I tried both that and the remote. I selected aux2 since that's what it said on the back of the tv and the naxa. In fact none of them worked when I toggled different modes. So it seems to me the RCA cable is faulty, or I need to go optical. There's also a USB to both the naxa and tv, but that seems like way inferior quality or is meant for a laptop. It's weird though cause if the tv has rca connections than why it wouldn't work I dunno.

The analog ports on the TV are INPUTS, not OUPUTS. The USB ports on both the TV and soundbar are INPUTS, not OUTPUTS and only accept storage devices.

The only option for an audio connection from this particular TV to this particular soundbar is the optical connection as the soundbar does not include the HDMI ARC port. The NAXA supports only PCM signals over optical so the TV must output PCM over optical.

Connect an optical cable. In the TV Settings, Go to Sound>Sound Output> Select Audio Out/Optical and Close. Then, go down to Sound Expert Settings>Digital Output Audio Format> Select PCM as it may be set at Dolby Digital by default.

That makes sense now. Only inputs. Everything else you said is correct too. PCM etc. Thanks much.
